Default Trunk support mount bracket defective?

I noticed for a while that that the trunk felt significantly heavier than usual so as as a precaution I ordered two new trunk struts.

Upon removing the liner, I noticed right away, the left strut just free falling off from the in the trunk wall itself to realize that it appears to be the mount/bracket itself has come off therefore it is not supporting the trunk at all. I am not sure if this is suppose to be welded or adhesive of some sort but it should not come off like that as I suspect this is some kind of defect. Anyone know anything about this?

I did replace the right strut as that was worn so at least the trunk feel to lift despite having one strut working now; will need Lexus to step in to see what they can do about that left side.

Added @Jeff Lange for visibility. Included pictures including the good right side.

If it's under warranty then hopefully they can fix it. One option would be to drill out those studs and reinstall the bracket using some large rivets.

The GM at the local dealership went to take pictures of the car and will send it to corporate to see what they think. He too was surprised as that did not look right either it.
