Default Trim restrictions

Anybody out there know why Lexus won't sell the IS300 factory interior wood-trim package with the yellow exterior? They do with EVERY other color. Even worse, why the morons in the marketing department dropped the yellow paint color this year, period?
Or why they won't offer an SC-300.....only the 400?
Thanks

huh?! there is wood trim on the is300? i don't see a single piece of wood on my is3 at all?

they stopped the yellow color coz' the sales are degrading. they are not morons, so watch it. you can still special order that color i believe, no?

they planned to have sc300 or sc330, but since the sc430 is selling so well, they are not doing that yet

Hmm perhaps some university level marketing classes would help this topic. Wood trim package in a sports car...its a cosmetic piece that a huge majority of IS300 buyers and owners wouldn't want. You probably represent the .05% that likes it. Second, they dropped the yellow paint due to POOR sales. Solar Yellow really doesn't fit the criteria for "Lexus" demographics. Why not look at things in a different perspective? Just because you personally like it doesn't mean you represent the majority out there. Think about it. Solar Yellow and only 16" wheels? A Luxury branded sports sedan but options of a base model Corolla CE? Maybe you're better of driving an Echo or base model Corolla CE? Although they are only FWD, they are inline engines with great fuel economy...and they're inexpensive too!? Just some food for thought.

OK, thanks for your feedback. I wuld like to point out a couple of things, though. First, I have a yellow IS myself. I was not thinking so much of myself as for others who really dig that color and have expressed interest in getting one for themselves. ( I am a part-time auto consultant) . Even if not many buyers choose it, Lexus does have a factory woodtrim IS300 package......for every color car BUT yellow. Second, the 16" wheels make sense in some cases. Roads in this area can be quite rough, and the low-profile 17" tires have very little resistance to pothole and impact wheel damage. In addition, the 17" tires are expensive to replace, ride noisily and rough, and don't last much longer than about 15-20,000 miles on average. Yes. I'll admit, they give more responsive handling, and they come with better-looking 5-spoke alloy wheels than the 16" tires, but for me the 16" tires make much more sense, even with yellow paint. The Lexus service advisors here do not recommend the 17" tires at all.
Buy hey....most of you guys/gals are probably in your 20's.....i am 51. that alone may explain some of the difference.

wow, I have never seen wood trim on an IS, sounds disguesting. Anyways, I think your views represent and extremely small minority of IS300 owners and admirers. I for one love my car just the way it is

Exactly! The demographic for the IS300 was NOT targeted for the 50+ year old crowd. That's what the ES and other lines are for.

Yes, part of what you guys/gals say is true...the IS was not primarily targeted at 50-year-olds like me. I bought it for Lexus quality, the fact that it was rear drive.....(easier to do major work and service on than front-drive)...didn't cost 50-60K like other Lexus rear-drives, and I liked the chrome ball shifter and the chronograph gauges. ....and yes, LOVED the Solar yellow color. You're probably right that few owners of yellow cars like me would want the wood trim. However, there are several aftermarket companies that have dash and door trim kits for the IS in either body color, wood trim, brushed aluminum, or carbon-fiber.
But on the other hand, there is no law that says that younger people can't have the ES300 or the LS430 either. Most young people, of course, cannot aford an LS. But my point is that you don't have to be a gray-haired greezer to appreciate a nice comfortable, quiet ride.....or a young cap-on-backward dude to like the IS either.

Since the IS300 is a sports sedan, how about some more nice colors like violet, lime green, orange, or bright blue? This car would be dynamite in violet purple or lime green. Only the current red and yellow do this car any justice.....the rest of the IS300 colors look like something out of a funeral home.

What? Huh? Yellow is not the best color that’s why they DROPPED it and my Millennium Silver Metallic is not something out of a funeral home. IS300 is a LUXURY sports sedan and yes the IS300 owners are young adult’s not little kids. Did someone say WOOD, please tell me someone did not say interior wood-trim, huh? The IS300 is a sports car and should never carry interior wood-trim. Don't get me wrong I will be picking up an Escalade next month and it will have interior wood-trim inside that’s ok. The GS/SC both have interior wood-trim that’s cool that works. You can not and shouldn’t ever put wood in an IS300. That’s like having a S2000 or a 350Z and saying I want to add interior wood-trim huh?

You're preaching sports sedan...but you want wood trim and are a big advocate of the not so popular 16" wheels? Violet purple or lime green? Sounds like the right car for you is the girl car VW New Beetle.

The VW Beetle is not necessarily a girlie car. Plenty of guys buy and drive them....yes, without the little flowers next to the wheel. The now-discontinued Cabrio...yes, to an extent, it is more of a girlie car.....most of its buyers are female and under 40. As far as "sports sedans" not having wood trim inside....just check out the BMW 3 and 5-series cars (the pre-Chris Bangle ones at least). They are the long-running benchmarks of the sport-sedan crowd.....and they have nice wood trim inside...even some of the super-sporty M-series cars. So I am not off the mark asking why Lexus restricts its availability.

That is fine that you are not off the mark by asking why. But if you look at the large perspective and study the market, then you will understand why Lexus had done what they did. That's what their marketing team is for. They help make the decisions on what to do and what NOT to do. Hence you see what you see in the showrooms.
