Ok, Flipside, I agree with you to some extent...it's easy for us guys to pan the marketers unfairly sometimes. I guess we have to look at their job...to determine what will sell and what will not. Their jobs...and the company's profits and sometimes its very existence...are on the line. For instance, I would not want to be the guy who talked Pontiac management into putting the Aztek on the market. Chris Bangle over at BMW has really blown it with his new designs....though BMW is simply too proud and stubborn to admit it, even though their sales are WAY down as a result.
So I guess your point is that if these guys blow it for their companies...it isn't any money out of OUR pockets...but it could be disaster for their companies.
Wonder how these new Toyota/Scion products are going to do? Looks like they're going to compete with the Honda Element.

What about the Scion line? You have it quite backwards since it looks like you really haven't done much research with the idea. The Honda element was a copy of Toyota's original idea of theJDM Toyota bB and Ist which falls under the younger target market Scion line aka the xB and xB respectively. The Honda Element has yet to catch up to Scion's sales with the xB since introduction. The only reason why Honda introduced the Element was due to Toyota's sucess with the xB and xA in Japan. About 2 years before it even came to our shores. As you probably didn't know by now, California is currently the only state to sell Scions. It was released in June for sale here in CA only. the rest of the country will get it by 2004. How are the Scion products doing? Quite well. As a matter of fact Thunder Cloud Metallic is the number one selling color for the xB. There was an article in the NY Times about the Southern California Scion invasion released just a few weeks ago. I was there at the Scion meet when that NY Times writer came out to interview. If you would like more info...come to www.scionlife.com or www.teamscionwest.com.
Let's get back on topic please.
