2003 IS300 with 230k mi+?
Hi, i'm new here, i'm in the market for an 2003-2005 lexus is300. There's one on craigslist for a very good price. Body and interior is in ok condition, but the car has 234k miles. I dont know much about lexus but i would consider this to be super high mileage for any type of cars. How reliable are these cars? If down the road, engine needs to be rebuilt, how much will i be looking at? I know this is not much info to go by but i just want some opinions on life span of these cars, do they start breaking apart after 200k? Should i avoid this? Thanks.

first off welcome. i think i saw the one you are talking about if it is the red factory 5 speed l-tuned. it is a rare car indeed. Lexuses are renowned for their reliability. please read about the 2JZ-GE if you havent done so already. it's a bullet proof, tried and true inline 6 cylinder iron block engine capable of 300k+ miles with just routine maintenance. the same engine is found in the supra, gs300 and sc300 with many being daily driven with over 200,000 miles. given it's rarity, it's worth taking a look at and good luck on your research
