o2 spacer gone wrong. Help!
Hey all,
I recently put a catless header on my car and read that there are 2 ways to work around the cel's that come with it; an o2 simulator, and an o2 spacer. For those who don't know the difference, the simulator simply simulates the downstream o2 sensor signals and is soldered into the fuse box. The o2 spacers are also used as spark plug foulers and can be drilled out to space the sensor out of the exhaust stream, to trick the sensors readings for emissions. I read in a few threads on this site that people have taken the exact steps I have to add the spacers into the b1s2 and b2s2 bungs and have never gotten cels however, I am having quite a few...
My codes are a p0051(b2s1: ho2s heater control circuit), p0037(b1s2: ho2s heater control circuit), p0153(b2s1:02 sensor circuit low, and p0133(b1s1 o2 circuit low)
Can someone help explain what might be causing this? I found it strange that there is no code for b2s2. I also don't know very much about the heater control circuit... It also may be worth noting that when I first installed the header, I didnt make enough clearance with the firewall and sensor so it rubbed and shorted off the sensor and blue a fuel pump fuse or something. I replaced the fuse and inspected the sensor wire (upstream) and noticed it was still fine so I re tapped it, made more clearance, and hasnt shorted again. I am thinking about going back to stock to see if everything goes away but I feel like something else is going on here since others have gotten away with it. How can I tell if there is an actual issue with the sensors or if it has something to do with the spacers I installed? Thanks in advance.
