Newbie to IS300
Hello.....fellow lexus lovers. I just bought an is300 manual. It is...........BEAUTIFUL! I looked it over and i have some small maintainence I wanna do. Paint brake calipers, new oil....etc. I'm just looking for info. I have done research and SRT seems to be the best for a turbo kit on this beautiful monster. If anyone can give me a parts list that will help increase my rwhp. I am looking to get about 600-700rwhp. I use to own a sc300 and crashed it. I have a w58 tranny that is still good and was planning on swaping it in there so it can handle the power. As i said before the SRT seems to give me everything i need. I just want to know if there is anything else i can do ontop of the SRT turbo kit to get what I want.

boosting an is300 can have a lonnnnnnng list.
instead of buying the SRT kit, ever consider doing the GTE (aristo) swap?
and the w58 isn't the best tranny to go with when you boost an is300. you're probably better off with an r154 or if you have the money, shell out and go with the v160
if you're wondering about the stock w55....won't last too long either
if you just bought your is300 and have been a member for almost 2 years, what did you have before the new car? congrats on the new is300 i actually just sold mine 3 weeks ago </3

I have read too many horror stories to order anything directly through SRT and from reading around on my.is people say the SRT kit is overpriced for the quality and customer service you recieve. There is a vendor over on my.is that is thinking about producing a turbo kit you may want to wait a little bit before you start collecting parts.
As for your 500 whp goal you are def going to need upgraded internals GTE rods and pistons for the most cost effictive route. Upgraded headgasket to the gte one plus arp head studs.
Off topic: I notice a lot of people do the aristo gte swap can you put a usdm supra engine in the IS?

you CAN drop in a usdm supra engine (i'm assuming your speaking of the non vvt-i one?) but there is a lot more work than just swapping the aristo (vvt-i) engine,

Yea i had plan on keeping the stock engine and switching out the internals. From all the research, alot of people arent to pleased with the gte swap in the is300. Then again **** happens. I had an sc300 with a w58 tranny but after your comment i am planning on dropping the r154 in. I have read alot about it and it seems to be the best thing for my price range. So the SRT isnt all that its hyped up to be. Good to know. Thank god i didn't spend any money yet hahah.
Well do you have any recommends on what parts or turbo kit to use?

i personally think SRT puts out the best NAT kits. dont listen to newbees who have 'heard' stuff. the people who try to argue that the SRT kit is over priced are thinking ebay crack head prices. "yo yo i heard somebody's uncle's aunt cousin who built a kit for $1500 off ebay. so must be true right."
but for your power goal youre better off doing a custom kit on a GTE. VVTI or not it needs a V160 or a beefed up transmission. i dont think the R154 will hold the power.
