Here is a dyno sheet of Toyomoto IS300 Turbo. 445 horsepower with 463 pounds of torque using a TO4E turbo at 23 psi. That is with 103 octane gas.

Looks like I have several choices for my IS300 manual ClubLexus project car.

They are:

SRT - Swift Racing Technologies

PFS - Peter Farrel Supercars

Toyomoto

Both PFS and Toyomota are turbo kits while SRT is a supercharger.

What should I do? Who should do my project car giving the car the best value as well as a high power/weight ratio.

Comments?

Thumbs up Finally someone posted numbers!

I'm happy to see Toyomoto's dyno posted on their site. Now, if they would post everything else about their car like:

crank vs rear-wheel hp/tq
TRUE PERFORMANCE SPECS like 0-60, 1/4mi, slalom, roadholding and braking?
all other related parts used and specs
co$t???

I'm also curious about these recent is300 turbo's and twin turbo's which all claim to be 2001 models.
Does that mean that these guys are cranking 463lbs/ft of torque through an upgraded automatic transmission?

How about some video's? Easy to post with a server and best of all, it gets everyone's attention!

Nonetheless I truly appreciate these aftermarket tuners for upgrading an automobile that I believe is worth more than is given credit for. Keep up the good work guys, you have all my support.

I am also interested, I am looking at buying a couple of used Lexus'. My wife and I are thinking about buying a GS300 as well as a RX300. I was going to buy a SC300 to use for a project car but if they can get the IS project completed, I might look at that instead. Does anyone have any idea on what this turbo package will cost.

The new M3 has 333hp inline-six engine so I know what i need to have. 450hp streetable and reliant power level is my goal with the IS300M.

Has anyone been given a firnm date when the first IS manuals will be ready for sale?

Thanks,

Thumbs up

A 300hp turbo car will BEAT a 333hp non-turbo car. Why you ask? Torque. A turbo motor makes WAY, WAY more mid range torque than a naturally aspirated engine of the same or similar displacement. It is very unusual to see an engine with substantially more torque than 1 ft/lb per cubic inch of displacement. The 3.2 liter BMW M3 is a 195 cid engine. I don't remember but I am thinking the torque is in the low 200s. A turbocharged Lexus 3 liter engine running 7psi of boost should run around 300hp and 300lbs of torque.

But I need more power then that...

My problem is that I am so used to high horsepower cars that my need for acceleration can only be satisfied by extreme levels of power....

Either that or a good rally race...

I believe from reading on the other IS forum site that the numbers toyomoto is posting is at the wheels. both torque and HP.

Thumbs up IS 300 Turbo

I love the idea of 445 horses in a manual shift or steering wheel shift IS. This will be a true M3 beater and I am all for it as far as price is under 60k. i would like to know more about it, particularly 0-60, slalom and lateral acceleration.

Mkilty--you have to take this into consideration...#1 toyomoto is posting STD HP 445rwhp not SAE like XS is... you can gain 50 hp off std not SAE as I learned today from Xtreme motorsports and SRT..SAE is a standardize HP rating no matter what the climate is... and location.. BIG difference..also reliabilty is a big issue..

Yes they are upgrading transmissions... Level 10 valve body Torque Converter and if you want to do it right clutches..
to get to this point 415-415 rwhp expect to pay 12-17k for everything, parts labor and tuning..

0-60 I am guessin in the 4 sec range.,
