It looks like your offest is +42. That should have worked. Do you upgrade your front brakes?

^^Replace your old studs with extended ones. A lot of people recommed APR studs.

Or you could run bolt on spacers, but the minimum size for those is usually 15mm.

How much clearance did you have between your caliper and wheel when the spacer was on? 5mm is practically nothing to begin with, and taking away almost half of it doesn't seem like it would do much for you. Mount the wheel with the spacer in place, and take some measurements.

when i put on the 5mm spacer on the wheel, caliber had clearance. without the spacer there was no space between the caliber and spokes of the wheels. but when i put on the 5mm spacer it was a fail to put on wheel locks. so my friend suggested i try 3mm spacers. no measurements yet cause the car was on a lift and didnt bother takin it down cause it was a fail.

2mm of extra thread doesn't inspire confidence. If 5mm works, get the extended studs and do it right. If you want the wheel to be closer to flush, you can go 10mm or 15mm while you're at it. Just know that you will need to roll the front fenders with 10mm or bigger. 10mm would put your wheel almost exactly where mine is relative to the fender.

A 3mm spacer isn't any less safe than a 5mm. The way I see it, you are going with a 3mm from a 5mm to gain 2mm of thread/bolt. If you feel that you don't have enough thread on the bolt with a 5mm, the extra 2mm of thread (gained by going to a smaller spacer) probably isn't going to be safe either. Instead, I would just get extended studs, and do it safely.

Tire specs?

How low is your car?

I doubt you will have any issues if you have a 215/40/18. You'd probably be safe with a 225/40 as well.

As long as you get the proper length studs, you should be able to use your existing wheel locks. A good set of spacers will normally come with wheel studs. I've read good things about H&R and Ichiba. No guarantees, but I think you'll be good with your tires. Of course, if you hit the right bump/dip, your tires may rub a little.
