Default 2001 IS300 - 180,000 miles - value?

Hi guys im brand new to the lexus community and im thinking about buying a 2001 lexus is300 with everything stock and 180,000 miles on it. The seller is asking 5,700 offer best offer. 180,000 seems to be a ****load of miles for a 2001 vehicle. The seller claims there has been no previous mechanical problems. I didnt get a chance to ask about recent tuneups or part replacements such as the timing belt, brakes, etc... the car body is in good condition inside and out. Any thoughts or suggestions as to how much I should pay? How long does a lexus typically last if well maintained?

as long its maintain. 180k is ok. check carfax. ask for maintnance history/paper. timing belt, water pump, spark plug, etc. clean title. if all checks, 5700 is a good deal. try asking 5k. GL

thanks for the prompt reply. What should I expect if no major repairs or maintenance has been done so far? Im hoping this car, if i buy it, would at least last me 5 years...

Totally off subject but 03 is300 one owner 79k clean carfax for 12 grand? It looks immaculate only small blemishes on rear bumper looks like from golf clubs coming in and out.

180k is not a lot of miles and its probably highway miles which means constant engine speed.

If it has a well maint. history I'd say its a very good deal. High miles to me is anything over 250,000 miles.

def make sure you check the suspension right like cartune said is prob one of the things that would start going wrong with it around that mileage... i bought my 01 with 110k for 5900 n the only thing that went wrong with it were the schocks... too many trips to NYC road suxs out there... good luck
