Exclamation no heatshield ok?

got my K&N, offered $40 and one local shop did it for me today

but they said no room to install heatshield.

is it ok???

Go back to the shop and tell them to make it work! You need the heat shield. It should fit.

I was under the impression that you need one but maybe not.

heatshield helps reduce the amount of hot air getting sucked in. but still not as good as a cold air intake or a ram air.

if you don't care about engine power and only care about intake noise, then you don't really need it.

I have no heat shield on my turbo car and its just fine ;-)

well sure its fine...but you arent reaching your maximum horsepower potential...especially with the air being compressed like that in a turbo application.

every 11 degree drop in intake temp = ~1% gain back in horsepower

its tru like when its cooler outside the car runs quicker/faster when there is lots of hot air you can tell its more bogged down.
