Default Regular IS or Sportcross

Hi guys,

I'm debating on getting a regular IS or Sportcross. The advantage of the Sportcross is obviously the extra room, but how is the after market support? Are the front bumpers interchangeable with the regular IS?

Those of you that have one, any regrets?

I have 2 kids and a minivan + GS300, so this is the "extra toy" car. It will basically be a nice beater because I'll need to take clients in it, and haul my bike and cycling gear.

I was not really looking for one, but found a sweet local deal on one. 2002 black on black auto w/ 108K miles for $8200. All stock. The seller is leaving the country and need to sell it fast.

Any thoughts?

Given the choice, SportX is pretty cool AND more rare.

That's a good deal.....get it!

My vote for Sportcross! =)

Seriously though, you will be able to haul more stuff in the Sportx by far. I have been a Sportx owner since this past March and there are no regrets. I have been a very happy owner and received many compliments. The bumpers are interchangeable and all the engine parts are the same as sedan. Given that....go get it! Lexus only sold about 3,000 Sportcrosses in the U.S....from 02-05.

Post a pic when you get it. =)

You cannot be practical and be a toy at the same time. Either quit calling it a toy and get the sportcross for it's soccer mom room to go do work in or get the sedan and mod the hell out of it.

The reality is you need an LX, RX for all you want to do with it.

In your situation, having kids , I think the sportcross is the right choice for you. Also as mentioned they are very rare, you just don't see them everyday.

I have a Honda Odyssey for "soccer dad" duties. I'm just not sold on the styling of the Sportcross even though it is pretty rare.

Well then...if you are not sold on the styling....don't get it....simple as that..but let me tell you...it looks a lot better once it is lowered.

So I went and test drove the car today. Mechanically it was fine, but the cosmetically it has issues. Seems like the front driver fender has been repainted and there are several ripple type dents on the corner where it meets the headlights / bumper. There is a 2 inch crack in the lower front bumper, and areas where it looks like hit the curb when parking. Various dents and scrapes, not bad but very evident on a black car. Steering wheel is worn on the left side, Comes only with the Valet key, someone tore the rubber seals and chipped the paint in what looks like an attempt to open the driver side door with a clothes hanger or some other crude instrument. No paperwork either, so unknown if the 90K was done. Carfax came back clean.

She lowered the price to 8K and posted it on autotrader. It will come with stock wheels and springs too.

I'm going to pass on it. Thanks for all the comments and opinions.
