Looking to upgrade brakes....
Hey everyone. Before adding some more power to my IS, I want to get the brakes and suspension squared away....I am considering buying a set up Brembo slotted rotors for the front and rear of my IS...along with some Hawk pads.
Anyone have these on their IS300? If so how would you rate them? I am wondering if there is a noticeable improvement in stopping power?
Pictures welcome of everyones brakes...new ideas/parts or any suggestions will be much appreciated!

That sounds like a nice setup.
I think Hawk pads cause a lot of brake dust. Have you looked at EBC brake pads? Is Brembo made for the IS with stock calipers?
what suspension are you gonna go with?

Tirerack has brembo slotted or drilled rotors that are made to OEM specs. they also have hawk pads that are rated to produce low dust. Not sure on the suspension yet. I might go with the H&R springs (had them in my ES and loved them--not too stiff, but made a big difference).
Eibach sells a sway bar set for front and rear that I am looking at also.
My goal is to have an IS that performs much better, but at the same time looks almost stock.

As for the rotors i suggest getting the slotted and not the cross drilled
the cross drilled cause uneven brake pad wear.
As for the suspension although you're not trying to do anything big i suggest going with full coilovers. replacing springs while keeping the stock shocks will cause premature breakdown of the shocks since they are spec towards stock springs.
The megan racing LP series on the softest setting almost feel stock.
and handle quit well for drifting on the hardest setting.
I'm glad to hear that you're actually researching your project and that you're going with your upgrades the proper way in which seting up the car to handle the power it will soon have
rather than compensating everything else after the power is already there.
Good Luck with your project....feel free to PM me for further info
