Getting an IS300 today!!!
Hey all, I am picking up a 2001 IS with 29k on it today. I am trading in the 99 ES300 that i have had for awhile. Can anyone tell me how I will know if the IS has the limited slip differential?? Any other things to look for would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
Nice! Congrats and wow, only 29k!? That's amazing...If you don't mind me asking, how much are you picking that up for? I got my 2005 Sportx with 29K, and i thought that was super low...=)
Anyways, I think you could tell when you first turn the key in the ignition and all lights turn on your speedometer. I forgot what the symbol looks like though or just take it in to a Lexus dealership to find out.

13,999. Couldn't pass it up, it is black with black interior with the 17" wheels. I will miss my ES for sure, but I have always wanted an IS!!! Anyways, thanks for the reply sway. I will check that dash light out when i pick it up in a few hours, i cannot wait!!
Yeah, I wouldn't pass that up too. Post a pic when you get a chance. I am still on a high from buying my IS almost a month ago now! I bet your thinking about cosmetics and mods for the IS already huh? =)
there's no light for lsd on the dash that I'm aware of. there's a way to tell, the sticker on the driver side door sill/jamb reads B02A, B02B or B02C followed by the transmission code. if I recall correctly if yours reads;
A = no LSD
B or C = LSD
you can also call 1800 25 LEXUS and ask them to look up the VIN and they can tell you what options it came equipped it from the factory.
This will only tell you if the car came with it from the factory, doesn't take into account and swapping out or in.
if you look at the general discussion on is300.net/my.is theres a thread stickied that tells you what to look for, and I saw another "definitive" discussion thread on the first page pretty recently. should be on the first or second page of that forum.
congrats on the new purchase!

It's a good bit of cash for an '01 when you consider your resale in a couple years won't be there after you put miles on it and a few more years go by. RIGHT NOW it is a unique buy for it's miles, but just make sure you aren't looking for resale when you sell it.
It certainly looks good! You should be happy with it.
