Default TRD Supercharger.... coming

My brother just got back from the Lexus dealer in Dallas (who claimed to be the largest Lexus dealer in the country, anyway) he was told that in 2-5 months TRD would be releasing their supercharger for the IS. He was told that it would have 320 HP (I'm assuming at the flywheel), and would cost roughly $4000-$5000 bucks. If so this is pretty incredible. SRT and everyone else is going to have to drop their prices a HUGE amount. To have that much power for around 5k is awesome.

Does anyone else know any hard facts? My brother had to call me to tell me about what he was told. I'm getting a bit excited now.

Those of you with SRT SC's what do you think? Is this something that SRT was prepared for?

I think it's all aload of bull man... I've had my IS since June/July of 2000... ever since I bought it people have been saying that same time frame... about 5-6 months. Now it's 2-5, but honestly, I stopped waiting for it a long time ago. If you took 5k to SRT I bet they'd pump out a lot more HP and keep in mind TRD hasn't been known to do anything more than CONSERVATIVE. No intercooler, just a blower and piping... I'd guess. That's pretty lame for $5k, and i STRONGLY doubt they'll get anywhere near that kind of power.

of, course! undoubtably so, but the production remains a mystery for now. Factory waranty miaght be worth the cost if they blow more than a weak 4psi.

Factory warranty...BINGO ! that is the sole reason I'll buy TRD stuff ffrom the dealer, and have them install as well, most of us will drive the car at it's limit sometimes with the S/C, frankly I'd like to have the safety net of a factory warranty to help, just in case...

I have spent no money on anything for the car since new, because I don't want to 'nickel and dime' with exhaust and intakes...blah,blah...for only modest improvements

The SRT sounds really, really nice, especially with intercooler, but I know my dealer would not install it for me....they suck anyway, cause there the only dealer for like 200 miles

Anyway TRD S/C = a surprise for TL-S, 330Ci drivers

Well, last months Sports Car that featured the new 2002 L-Tuned package that lexus will be releasing and also confirmed that the TRD supercharger will be out in Spring of 2002. They claim that it should push out 304 hp. Nothing out of the ordinary, but still is a 40% increase in hp which is fine w/ me seeing that its warenteed my Lexus. When in Spring, Im not sure. But it should be out soon.

That was an e-mail from L-Tuned just yesterday. SO I sincerely doubt its coming out by Spring this year.

Cristobal, This is what I'm talking about... the dealers willt ell you anything to keep you coming back for a sale, but the reality is that TRD for one reason or another, is NOT pro-active in making a supercharger... I have a feeling, or call it a theory, that TRD is holding off because Lexus may want to have a factory version in the future... who knows?

I know what you mean. I hope it isn't the case, but more than likely it is. I read somewhere last night that they are coming out with it and that I'll give 304 hp. I think that is just a press junket that Toyota released. I'll give them until June. After that I'll be pissed (as if it will do any good).

hmm I dont think they TRD SC will be worth the money they are charging for it anyway.. I am sure it wil be 4-5k anbd give you minimal results.. not worth it imo.

Just get SRT, It's a beautiful supercharger and it's cheaper than that. I got to drive a 2002 5 speed with an SRT stage 2 in it... It didn't hit real hard down low but you could feel it pull up top nice..TRD fell off the truck on this one... too much time in R&D, they told me they're having probs with it and dont expect anything soon.... and I dought it'll make 320HP... more like 300HP... and It'll probably be less than $5000 bucks.. SRT is the way to go.. it's soo beautiful,

Plus I bet you.. about the time TRD comes out with a supercharger the IS will already have more HP stock.. a year or two away though..
