Hello all...New 04 IS 300 owner here...Car is sharp as all hell but as I was showing it off to my brother he started telling me about how the local cops have the reputation of busting people for dark window tint...His kid was busted a while ago and the local "Barney Fifes" gave him 5 days to remove the tint or get a fine...He was also told if the tint was installed at the factory, there is no problem...They do nothing...The tint on my IS is not real dark but in researching the PA law, only 30% is allowed...My question is how do I find out if the tint on my windows is factory or not??...And better yet, if it is, how do I prove it to the fuzz if I get pulled over??...I've read and reread the owners manual concering this but have found nothing...ANY advice and/or suggestions are very welcome...THANKS!!

 

I think any tint shop can tell if it is a facory tint or not. I think factory tinting on new cars and trucks keep getting darker. I recently saw a stock, brand new on the lot cadillac escalade and the factory tint is limo like. I don't think they will bother you, the cops are looking for civics, eclipses etc with dark tint as a excuse to pull them over.

 

It's funny you mentioned an eclipse...That just happens to be the car my nephew got pulled over in...The fact he drives 100 mph all over town doesn't help either I guess...Hopefully you're right and they'll leave me alone...Thanks for the reply...........

 

our cars dont bring factory tint... its all "Green tint" which means its clear ...
