Default "short" shift Question?????

In manual Is300's, Is there a way to Shorten the height of the shaft without buying a short shifter and without having to use a hacksaw???? Im not worried about having a shorter throw right now, i just want the height to be shorter. Thanks for any replies.

How hard are short shifter to put in? Can the short shifters damage the transmission parts in any way possible? I was thinking of doing this. What brands are good if I do? Any takers?

I know B&M and one other company makes nice ones, and i believe they are pretty easy to install and dont have any affect on transmission, besides the length of the throw of course. But i have also heard they have an annoying wining sound when ur driving, which is why i really dont wanna have to do that. I would rather find an alternative to making the shifter shorter.

Can a shortened shifter change the sound of the tranny?? Sounds like bs unless the new one has less insulation and you just hear more of the tranny's real sound.

maybe from the shifter bushings... I know some replace the rubber bushings with the aluminum bushings while they are installing short shifter.

I would just save up and get a short shifter, much better than hacking up your stock assembly

hey guys.....i have an 03' GGP is300 with manual tranny.....i recently bought B&M 50% reduced throw short shifter.....very easy to install and can be done with basic handtools and somewhat of an understanding of how your shifter assembly comes apart, although the B&M shifter comes with detailed directions with color pics. There is an increase in transmission noise, but i happen too like the noise, somethimes it sounds like either the car s electric, or when your really push it, it sounds like a turbo spoolin up.....also it is a LITTLE bit stiffer to drive, meaning that it takes a little more effort to change gears, but is much more direct. reduces throw dramatically. sometimes my friends dont even see my hand move sincenow i can shift with my finger tips....definately worth the 180 bux or w/e i paide for it. gives the car that sporty short shifter look as well as a very sprty short shifter feel.....and please dont waste your time hackin up ur stock assembly, trust me. Hope this helped.
