View Poll Results: 1st or 2nd generation IS looks better?

Which generation IS do you like better?
Although the second generation IS is faster and has a little more technology in it, I still prefer the first. The second generation IS is a lot less aggressive looking than its predecessor, which is a big down side for me. The first generation still retains some of its uniqueness whereas the second seems to blend more into the aesthetics of the higher priced cars in the lexus line.
And as far as the speed issue goes, 2006 might be the turning point for the N/A IS300. This is already creating a little stir on my.is. Check it out.

Nothing personal, but that's just silly.

I like them both, but i wouldn't sell the 02 i have to buy a newer one. Its very clear that the 2IS was designed as a Lexus, which is why it seems to blend in more w/ the rest of the line up. I like the fact that the 1st gen is a little more unique. Power wise the new ones are quicker, but the two dissapointments to me is the v6 (i have been a straight six fan since i got my supra like 9 years ago) and the lack of a real manual transmission w/ the higher hp motor.
Well the 1G-is300 looks better than the 2G-is. The new IS looks like a darn luxury toyota camry. The inside is nice that's about it. I wish the old lexus IS300 had a MP3 player adapter. Then what really sucks about the 2ndIS is that you can only get the 300hp IS350 with automotic drive what a shame!!! where's the fun in driving a sports luxury car with that!!!! ohh but the paddle shifter's are cool!! yeah right!!! they blow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I got mad just writting this.
I've owned a first gen IS for a few years now, just selling it in fact, and I've had a second gen for a couple of days while the car has been serviced so I took it for a good spin!
To be honest looks wise there's no comparison - the first gen was a design classic imho, the second gen just looks like they took bits from every other manufacturer out there and shook them all up in a bottle to end up where they did. Yes you can see the L-Finesses styles in there but the GS and LS are much better designs in my opinion.
The new IS is too small inside for me, if you're a midget then great, if you're over six foot then they're just not right, that door panel design is also awful, don't understand why they put the switches and stuff so far down the door frame, the side sticks into your knee, it's just crap really!
The new car does drive very nice, kind of reminded me handling wise of the first gen IS with lowering springs and roll bars fitted, so I was impressed with the handling and the overall power of the IS250 was much better than you get in the standard IS200, but it was just too cramped for me.
In all honesty my opinions are amplified by the fact I'm now driving an Aristo V300 which is a much bigger car, but I have the same thoughts when I get back into the IS200, yes it's a lovely car(first gen), style wise it's nicer than the GS but I've kind of realised what I've been missing - proper comfort and proper power straight out of the box
There aren't many high power IS' running over in the UK, but one day I think I may be tempted to import one of the 600rwhp+ cars from the US as that would be ace - the power, the handling, and the looks to go with it all
