Default 6cd?

Is BMW serious? On their 2006 model, there is no 6CD standard. There is pre-wiring for it: Pre-wiring for BMW center installation of 6-disc CD/MP3 changer (<-- From the website)

Does that mean it's in the center console? Or... in the trunk again?

What do you expect from a company that makes you pay extra for metallic paint?

Do you guys think the 6-CD in-dash changer will be the standard for years to come? My aunt was in our Lex and was like, 'they still have 6 discs only...!' but I think that's enough, the Ipod connection is key!

Not only the iPod connection, but mp3 CDs!

Think about it: 100+ songs on a CD x 6 CD changer = 600+ songs ≈ 50 hours of music in your car on just CDs alone.

IMO, the 6-disc players have no durability. My IS had it's player changed out twice, and my RX once, just last week (1.5 years old). I'd be happy w/ a single player, as I hate to have a whole bunch of CD's in the player. It's also distracting to change them out while driving... I keep 3 in at the most (2 can be leaning on either of my thighs and one can be in my hand flipping through pages). Gotta do that mp3 thing...

Contradictory?

That's the whole point of having a 6 disc cd "CHANGER".

well i guess it doesn't hurt, but i don't see it as much added "margin", like when you go from cd player to 6disc cd changer

I'm not exactly sure a 10 would fit in the dash, especially with the nav screen there, which is probably why nobody has done a 10 in-dash so far

How about one of those 50-disc changers that DJ's use?
