Exclamation Car won't start with wallet key!

10 miutes ago i was simply trying to pull my car out of the garage for some night shots of my angel eyes when i realized i didnt have my keys on me, no big deal i'll just simply use my handy dandy wallet key, so i threw the clutch in and cranked it up, but the cat wouldnt purr as hard as she tried, after the third attempt i retrieved my set of actual keys in a panic, hopped in, cranked it up and the beast growls once more! however after taking picktures and takin her around the ol block and back into the garage i tried the wallet key one more time to make sure it wasnt some kind of fluke, and it doesn't work. Has anyone expiercned this in thier car? I'm no mechanic but this was the first time for this key's use with my SRT intake installed, so fellas please go check and see if im not the only IS with this problem.

Isn't the wallet key ONLY to get you in the door, not to start the car? It doesn't included the little chip that the normal keys and the valet key have imbedded in them.

Has the wallet key started your car in the past?

Logical. If they both go in and turn the ignition, but only one starts the car, seems to be an electrical connection supplied by the key.

The wallet key is only for opening the doors. If you want to start the car, you need one of the two master keys or the spare valet key with transponder to start it up.

i believe if you read the small print on your plastic piece that holds the wallet key it even says.
key will not start the car!

hmm, some people got wallet keys that have transponders inside the plastic card piece. you hold that up next to the key area when you want to start the car with the wallet key..

Ditto what irv_usc stated. My 04 wallet key works when the plastic card is held next to the ignition, but you only have 10 seconds from the time you inserted the key to bring the platic card (with the transponder) up next to the ignition or the key will not work.

Like everyone says, some wallet key holders have the transponder in there. When you put in the key you have 10 secs. If the security light is still flashing after you insert the key and put the wallet key holder next to it your key holder DOES NOT have the transponder in it. If the light goes out, you don't need the transponder anymore and can crank the engine anytime until you pull the key. You can also use the wallet key and put the head (not the blade) of you master key to ignition to disable security.

I remembered somewhere that starting in 00 or 01, they started including transponders in the wallet key holder.

Not true. I've used one many times.
