car cover
does anybody know where to get the best car cover (good protection against bad weather condition) ?
Use the cover if you park in a concrete parking garage, though....they can leak water mixed with calcium and lime that can corrode the paint.
Generally, the factory makes reasonably good covers....they are custom-made for the vehicle, so they will fit with no problems. They may also carry a factory parts warranty.
You can also check ads in magazines like CAR and DRIVER, AUTOWEEK, ROAD and TRACK, etc....
Car cover manufacturers like to advertise in those enthusiast-type magazines.
Some of the aftermarket ones can cost quite a bit and have better materials than the factory ones...but they don't always fit as well. Some are CHEAP.....period. The best ones are porous enough to let the paint breathe but not porous enough to let water in....but they usually cost the most.
One thing to keep in mind with ANY car cover....you HAVE to keep the paint and glass clean. If you put it on and off numerous times over dust, dirt, road grime, particles, etc.......there's a good chance it will abrade and scratch the paint and glass.....especially the sensitive mirror surfaces. If it does, I recommend a product called SCRATCH-OUT for the paint. It comes in a small yellow bottle in auto parts shops for about $3-5. It is an excellent, very mild abrasive that will take out existing scratch marks and imperfections, as long as they are not too deep, and will keep the paint like new.
[B]Covers will help to some extent outside, but, if possible, it is best, for maximum protection, to park indoors.
