Default Is it worth it (inverter replacement)?

My 2010 RX 450H with 139k miles has had the issue with Inverter and I have to replace it. My local tech wants $3000 (Parts & Labor).
questions:
1. Is it worth it to replace with a used inverter (12 month warranty)?
a) $tealer has offered $5000 as a trade in.
2. Do you have to program the Car in anyway IF I replace it myself?
3. Where can/should I buy the used Inverter?

TIA

So what would you fetch for the RX after repairs around where you live? Dealer is offering 5000 now (just one data point) .. the magic number is $8000.

Ask the mechanic to give you separate quote of parts, labor, material [coolant etc]. You can ask dealer for hours of labor for investor replacement.

You can call salvage yards for the availability and price of the inverter.

Key question for you is ... do you feel comfortable doing the job? It is defiantly not a job that only requires mechanical know how. You need high voltage know how and tools + safety know how. Internet advise/opinion/help in lethal stuff can not be trusted.
