Is the car worth it? It would be worth it to me if the car last another 100,000 miles.
Is the the Car-max warranty I was offered. 5 years/100,000 miles $300 deductible any good?
Car 1 2010 rx350 Carmax 121,000 miles $15998
Car 2 2013 rx350 Relaible 39,000 miles $22,997 (offers lifetime warranty)
I plan to daily drive and Uber with it around $2k+ a year. If it lasts 10 years, it paid for itself.
My other cards for consideration at $20000 were New cars paid in cash. I know new cars lose value the second you pull off the lot, but 1 owner, 1 maintenance record.
A 2018 Buick Envoy $19k
A 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport $21k (would kick in some of my own money)
Debt is not an option.
Your Thoughts?

I guess he means the RX is going for $20,000 which seems way too high. You could get a Venza or Highlander with a lot less miles for a lot less money and they are almost the same vehicle.
Also the price of the Car-max warranty. I would look at the USNews rankings of most reliable SUVs before spending my money. https://cars.usnews.com/cars-trucks/...able-used-suvs
Also, you need to drive them and see how they fit you. The infotainment system in the RX350 third gen is archaic compared to the other cars you are considering and may not suit your needs. It also lacks many of the new smart safety features. However it is very reliable. But with that many miles and your intention to Uber, you will rack up more miles and I would worry about the suspension, and transmission, hence your interest in the extra warranty.
I think you can do better, depending on the budget, which we need to know.
Also there is no 2018 Buick Envoy. There is an Enclave which is $40,000 and an Encore which is far cheaper and may be what you mean. https://cars.usnews.com/cars-trucks/buick/encore
But it is tiny. You should have something larger if you are going to Uber it. Get a used Venza or Highlander. They are very reliable and cheaper than an RX.

I can't comment on the other brands (Buick, Hyundai) but re the Lexus RX models, the specs on paper alone is too hard to make a decision on. I'd have to go look at the overall condition of the vehicle, check for accident repairs, check that all the required servicing has been completed - spark plugs on the V6 is costly dealer service job, for example. The V6 engine has been known to leak oil due to a manufacturing defect, and it's very expensive to rectify. The interior trim panels on some vehicles can have annoying squeaks going over rough roads, and some vehicles have been taken to places where crossovers are separated from proper 4x4 SUVs.

Get the 2013 RX350 as it is after the mid model refresh and has some updates compared to the 2010, and much lower mileage. It is better not to have to deal with repairs, even with an extended warranty. This vehicle is worth the couple thousand more it will cost.
The Buick is too small as is the Hyundai. However the Hyundai is not a bad choice if the size works and depending on the option packages. It will have more modern infotainment https://www.caranddriver.com/reviews...h-model-review

Please don't take this the wrong way, but from the information in your post, and the parts of the original post you edited out, your planning and thought process on this are a little too optimistic for the reality of the situation. An example of this is your expectation on finding a stripped down, base model Encore/Santa Fe that a dealer would be willing to sell to you at cost and wave the various fees you get stuck with buying through a dealer (you'll find that there are no base models with no options, and dealers are in business to make money and do not sell at cost except in some very exceptional situations.)
Don't feel bad, many who are reading this were young at one time and did what you are doing now, and then lived to watch the kids do the same thing a generation later. Personally, I would recommend the OP see what's out there in the $15k range that he likes and go from there. Besides being in his price range, looking at the insurance bills for the cars we have, I would hate to see what it would cost someone who isn't older.

Well I am older, I'm just cheap.
And I don't like to live outside my means, I like to get what's going to be effective for the long haul.
And I like deals.
I'm just looking at how to make a -20k purchase be cool and last the next 10 years. IS that a used lexus or a new car?
I've got more cash, but this is my hard cap.
maybe F250's 85,000 rx450h would be a good Idea?
Basically I'm looking for the next 100,000 miles out of the car.
MY current car is 13 years old and only has 105,000 miles.

BTW, my current summer daily driver is a 27 year old Miata with 190k miles on it, and the average age of my cars, including the 2013 450h but excluding the GF's cars, is 21 years.

Sorry, didn't mean to sound offended.
I went by Buick today -
Test drove and Encore - too small,
then a GMC Terrain, Nice, but Noisy. Had WiFi though, that was semi cool, as I can't BE the one on the internet, cause I'd be driving.
Took a look at an envision.
I'm impressed, but NOT impressed
I'm still leaning towards the Lexus, though. If the Encore had Lexus space, I'd have bought it.
Also, whats with the Hard separated center console in the front going on nowadays? I like to spread my legs while I drive (tilt my knees to the side)
Center consoles got me feeling like I'm in solitary. But the Lexus center console was actually alright and livable.

What about a Toyota RAV4? Too small? Then how about Toyota Highlander (older model) and still fit your proposed budget?

When I get a chance, I'm going to check out the hyundai santa fe, tucson and Sigh, the rav 4
I bet you rav 4's great, but my mind just sees it as a girly car, cause I can hear my cousin screaming for one all the time in my mind when I look at it.
But a toyota would be right on track, wouldnt it?
