Question nx450h+ acceleration 0-60 in EV mode only

Hi all,
We've been considering a 450h+ PHEV and all the literature I read says a 0-60 of 6 seconds. What is not specified though is whether that is in EV only mode or hybrid (EV/ICE motor) mode.

I saw one youtube review that mentioned the 0-60 in EV only was 10". That is way slower than the 7.5" of our 2017 Volt in EV only mode. We'd like to use the 450h+ like the Volt in EV mode only until it runs out of juice then the ICE kicks in but 10" to get up to 60mph is pretty slow for getting on the freeway and merging with traffic. Your thoughts and comments appreciated.

The 0-60 is in HV mode with both engine and ev running at the same time. I did not find the EV only to 60 taking 10 seconds. I haven't measured it, but it doesn't feel 10 seconds to 60 miles/100km.

Thanks for the feedback. Based on your perspective we're going to test drive one this coming Monday.

I own both 2018 Chevrolet Volt and NX 450h+. Running 450h in EV is slower than in Volt. But, it doesn’t feel that slow at all. I would say 450h is a heavier vehicle with the same size as in volt battery so, it is expected to be a bit slower and less range. As for the ICE engine I find it’s way more economical than in volt. Again, considering how much bigger the 450h, on my trip from Ottawa to New York, driving there in hybrid mode for a week or so, I was averaging in city around 5.8L/100 and on highway 6.1L/100km and that road was not flat, driving through mountains up and down… This is way better than driving hybrid mode in Volt.

When you operate in EV mode, you probably will enjoy the quiet and very decent performance using electricity only. When you want the performance switch over to HV and you will be amazed.

We've now had our RX350h for a little over a month. The last two times that my wife has used the car she's seen a notification like the one below. I was messing with the EV button a couple of days ago which I'm guessing may have triggered the notifications. Does anyone know if that's the reason she's seeing these for the first time?

This Trip Summary shows up after you power off the car and wait a little before opening the door. You must be anxious to get out of the car when you arrive. 😂

Busted! Yes, I'm typically on a mission!

But seriously, is this sort of mileage (42-45) typical for short-ish city trips with the RX350h?

Yes, that is very good mpg for a 350h.

In thinking further about it, going the direction she was going on these trips is just slightly downhill most of the way, it wouldn't be noticeable otherwise. I know this from riding my bicycle on that general route. I'll need to pay more attention to our trips on the way back from now on to see if it evens out. We seem to be getting 35mpg overall which is what surprised me about these trips.

Well if it’s winter where you are at, that’s still pretty good.

Just FYI, there is an RX sub forum as well, if you have any more specific questions, etc.

We got the NX 450h+ in February and I'm satisfied with the EV acceleration for getting on the 101.

While I have never driven a Volt I can't compare the two though I agree with others that the 450h+ feels fast in EV when also set to Sport mode vs Normal mode. To get the max acceleration, HV + Sport mode. Merging onto a freeway even with the shortest of onramps is never an issue.

I agree as well, I know others have said it doesn't make difference if EV battery charged and you have it in hybrid mode. However it feels much quicker with both on and if EV battery full. Maybe is just feeling.
Also I can't get over how much fast NX450+ feels over RX450+. maybe it 400lbs weight difference?
