Driving 400h without battery?

can rx400h start and drive without battery, purely on petrol?

Looking at a used 400h with 200K miles for short money. Based on the OP's question, and the single response, are you saying that if the hybrid battery pack dies, the car cannot be driven using the ICE alone?

But it's possible to change only one bad cell at a time if not possible to replace complete battery pack.

The hybrid system is a replacement for a transmission. The two electric motors increase or decrease in speed coupled to or not coupled to the engine. Eg. The engine is turning over, and the electric motors can vary the vehicle speed up or down in synchronization with, but regardless of engine speed.
