Car: RX450H 2010 front wheel drive

Behavior: The car was driving fine until I left it sitting in the hot 90+ degree sun untouched for 7 days. Now, the car won't move forward or backward in drive, reverse, or in neutral. When the car is in drive and I press the gas pedal, the car seems to attempt to torque and then it's like the back lowers just slightly upon jerking. It seems like something is locking up upon pressing the gas. The engine is on.

Thoughts or Speculations or Tests?
Could this have to do with the electric motor locking up?

Thank you for your help!!

Lets eliminate simple stuff.
Make sure you are on flat surface and put the vehicle in "N" and see if you can push the vehicle. It could be that the wheels are stuck .. hanging brakes etc.

Salim

Note: Hybrids should not be left in "N" for long as the regenerative generator/motor is disconnected and traction battery may reach critically low voltage and would require flat bed to the dealer.

Salim, thank you. I just tried putting the car in "N" and pushing it. No luck. I checked around the car and there are definitely no obstructions preventing it from moving.

What are hanging breaks? Any other tests/thoughts?

Thanks for your help

Chock the wheels and jack up one wheel at a time. With trans in "N" see if you can spin each wheel at a time.
Apply parking brake and release a few times to see if the parking brakes are stuck. Parking brake should restrict spinning of rears.

This should help narrow down which wheels are locked.

Question for you:
Once you know which wheel or set of wheels are locked ... what is the mechanical skill level and tools you have at disposal to take the next step. If you are dependent on a mechanic then you need a way to get him to the vehicle or get the vehicle to him.

Salim

PS: Some times a gentle rocking motion [push towards the front and then push towards the back] can release the lock.

...then it's like the back lowers just slightly... This sounds like classic parking brake stuck on.
Cable operated, you can provide plenty of force to apply the brakes but they are released with a small spring.
10 year old vehicle that has not had the system used often (or perhaps ever) will certainly have rusted cables.
A bit tough to remedy, unless you have jacks, stands, penetrating oil, pry bars and band-aids this is a job for a pro.

Another direction... Friend had same problem and it was a frozen caliper.

Was it wet (rained, or following cars wash) just prior to letting it sit? Pads rusting on the disc have been known to happen.
Put it in drive and gun it. The shock will break the pads loose from the disc.
