Does gas engine always kick on when starting a warm car?
I have little doubt that the Toyota engineers discovered that there was a reason to fire up the engine while leaving a different engine design alone. Who knows?--perhaps someone found that pressurizing the oil for a few seconds was the solution for a particular esoteric issue.
