gx shocks are very expensive so a rebuild could be an interesting route to go. i think you would have problems finding the seals, etc. but it might be worth putting in a call to some of the speciality shock outfits to determine if they can rebuild OEM shocks - king and fox come to mind. but that is with zero research.
Most of the rebuild guys would swear that they confirm to OEM standards, But nobody does, it is just "Bul****!. Nobody in the Rebuild industry would replace the SS Liner in the Cores and piston as that is what would require for a complete rebuild. It probably costs millions of dollars to develop and purchase the machinery and tooling to manufacture shocks. The actual cylinder, piston, valving and seals are enclosed in a completely sealed and pressed together assembly - no way to open it other than cutting it in half. They just change the seals and H/Oil. It will be back to the same issue after a month.
So Dont be misled by these guys. It is really unfortunate if you do it, would be at your own peril !.
Well thanks, I would do the work myself if I can find the parts. I will take some pics when I get it all apart. I'm rebuilding a carb today on a 67 mustang.
