Default Looking to Purchase 2007 400h

Hi everyone,

first time poster here.

I am looking at a 2007 RX400h with less than 45,000 original miles. All service records intact and the work has been performed at the dealer.

I am really drawn to the extra mileage, considering that I do about 70% city driving.

What are some things that I should look out for with the 400h?

Thank you so much for all your help and time!!

Make sure the recall on the inverter was done. Also look very carefully for any leaks of red coolant on the inverter....The timing belt is due at 90k miles, however the time period for belt is also a determining factor.
Great car otherwise. The headlamps should be clear of any moisture also. If they have moisture, there is a recall also on those, make sure it is done as the lamp assemblies are very expensive.

thomas1,

Thanks so much for the input!

I called the dealer where it was serviced.

They said a recall had been done to the tune of $3,000. They said it was a hybrid computer module. Does that sound about right? They also said there is an open recall for an airflow sensor as well.

Thanks again for the help!

The recall was a board in the inverter. Have not heard about the airflow sensor. Make sure you check the headlamps. If there is any moisture make sure they replace them. It is a recalled item.

Never drove the 2007 model. I have the 2006 400h and original owner. Love my car.

In addition to thomas's comments there is a recall for sticky dashboard. (in high humidity loactions some people said their toyota dashboard got shiny and sticky) I recieved the recall notice but my dash is fine. That said I have not heard of anyone with a 400h with that issue.

There are two other issue that people reported. Leaking radiator and leaking coolant at the inverter. the second one may be costly to repair.
