Long term maintenance gameplan
I'm new to the forum, having purchased a 07 RX400h last week. The RX has 54k and it has been serviced at the same Lexus dealer since new. As I have a set of 7 month old twin girls, I bought the RX with the intention of keeping it a long time, 6+ years. In looking at the maintenance schedule it looks like there is not much that needs to be done (oil & filter chages, etc) until the 60, 90, 120k service. I plan on doing most of the routine stuff myself leaving the diagnostic and heavy repairs to the dealer.
Other than the oil, filters (engine, oil, AC) is there anything else that I need to do? I read about the CVT and differential fluid changes but these are not listed on the Lexus maintenance schedule.
Thanks!

Nope, just routine oil changes for a while. The manual recommends brake fluid replacement every 30k, but I haven't gotten around to it yet. If your 12V battery under the hood is original, you should replace that or expect strange things to happen when it starts to die (it's a weak battery compared to non-hybrids). The CVT fluid is considered lifetime, which is why it's not on the schedule. You should enter your VIN on the My Lexus website to see if you need to bring it in for a recall for inspection of solder joints on the inverter intelligent power module.

Personally I would change the CVT fluid, no fluid is lifetime. I changed mine at 88kmiles on my second owner car and it was quite dirty. I now change once a year for scheduled maintenance.

Don't forget about the timing belt at around 100k miles. Some people do the water pump at that time but I am just going to inspect mine. Also, I had to replace the front control arm bushings at 95k miles.
