Default buying 2007 400h

I am seriously considering a 2007 RX400h to buy. 80K miles and used in the northeast by single owner. History is clean. Worried about potenital corrosion due to road salt and upcoming maintenance expenses. Any opinion would help my decision making.

If the price is right, I would get it. I have an 07 and it's been a great vehicle!

Price seems high to me....Maintenance coming up at 90-100k is the timing belt....Third party warranty is a complete rip if it doesn't cover the Batteries (hybrid)...great car other than that.

Yeah, forget the extended warranty. Instead set that $1600 aside in a bank account in case you need it - chances are you will not need it for this vehicle.

Welcome to Club Lexus, Guest99.

Like any used vehicle purchase you should have the vehicle inspected by an independent mechanic not associated with the sale for a thorough inspection. Just check to make sure they are familiar with hybrids. You can check for an appointment with a local Toyota shop to see if they can do an inspection for you as an example.

If you are looking to purchase out-of-warranty vehicle coverage you should contact Jerry @ Midwest Toyota to see what he can do for you. As your Lexus warranty is up he cannot sell you anything from Lexus. He may have something which would cover the battery and hybrid drivetrain. Just search the forums here for his contact info..

Keep in mind the hybrid system warranty on the RX400h is 96 months/100,000 miles, so you still are likely to be covered. It starts on the original purchase date and is transferable.
