does GS450h share any hybrid part with RX400h?
so my dad call me today said his 2008 RX400h with 12k miles wouldn't start. no error message, just no engine start up nothing.
He got the car tow to a lexus dealership and they told him it was the Hybrid inverter going bad. And they want $10,000USD to replace it it really shock us, the car was hardly driven and a $10k repair bill??
we bought lexus because they are reliable, and since my GS450h is a 07 do you guys think we share similar parts and should be worry this will go bad?

According to the very first line of the attached, he should be good to go.

so now the question is, does our GS450h share similar part with RX400h?

No idea as to how warranty work is handled in other countries. I would imagine it to be handled in close to the same manner as it would be here in the US.
I also think in an effort to contain costs, the hybrid components should be common across the Toyota/Lexus family of vehicles. Just my opinion.
Good luck with the RX!

2 comments struck me as odd. You as a member can buy the Inverter from Sewell Lexus for under $4k, and you get a core I believe from the dead inverter. SA at that dealership is being a tool.
"Rarely driven" is bad for these cars. Try to put 30-50 miles a week on the car. You have to work that thing to make it last.
Not much is similar. In fact with Lexus releasing the new Hybrid GSh with an Atkinson engine. it would have more in common with the RX line. The 3rd Gens will be the one and only Lexus using a Otto cycle engine paired to a hybrid Aisin drive. Hence why they are faster.

I recall when I purchased this vehicle I asked if there would be a problem since I park my car for winters, the sales guy said that i should drive it at least sometime and not let it sit the whole couple of months, or the battery could generate problems. Funny I haven't stopped driving it for winters.

well we can't have a trickle charger since the car is in Hong Kong, we don't have our own garage attached to the house we only have like a structure parking garage.
either way, here are the update. After having the car 2 months at the dealership in Hong Kong, they keep denying replacing the inverter for free since the car is out of warranty, even if the car is within warranty they ain't going to replace it since the warranty COVER THE BATTERY ONLY! not the inverter, and even if the battery fail, they won't replace the battery under warranty unless you do preventive maintenance at their dealer only. yup welcome to Asia
Anyway, my dad kept on pushing the dealer saying its Lexus fault and dealer fault doing all the blaming game he end up only having to pay around $2500 USD for that inverter replace. Lexus Japan willing to cover the rest pretty good instead of paying $10k USD for that stupid part + labor.
