From Lexus published stats the 2013 GS450h would not be a contender for world's fastest hybrid. Which to me is disappointing because the previous GS450h was the world's fastest hybrid when it was launched.

You are right, the GSh was the fastest for years and it took years for Infiniti to beat it. This time Lexus took a different approach. The new GSh may not be the fastest hybrid, but it handles better and gets better mpg. Personally I care more about handling and how the car respond rathen than its 0-60 numbers. If I'm not mistaken 2013 GSh is not that far behind either? its still a pretty fast hybrid...
It was obvious that this time Lexus did not want to create a rocket that can only beat 0-60 times, they wanted to build a car that people will enjoy driving. They even dropped the V8 option

if your only notion of performance is 0-60 sure... but we have had our own member compare M35h and GS450h, and handling is drastically different.

Yep....one of the ugliest cars on the market...not to mention it's a Nissan product.
well, M35h got rave reviews at start... so I was surprised when our euro member tore it apart for being pig and weird in turns (traction control slowing the car down in curves to the point of undriveable), then i read review in TAC and it was pretty much the same.
so that being said, awful sales of 55 units in January make sense.
You could not get me to buy an Infiniti, hybrid or not. I rather have a better interior quality than a car that goes a bit faster. I won't be racing hybrids sedans.
Man, I don't even care if the Infiniti hybrid can go 0-60 in 3 seconds, its so god damn ugly!! The last gen looks better, heck even the gen before that looks better LOL.
Congrats to Infiniti to stepping up the M to include a hybrid variant. More competition is better for the people. Lexus is the first to bring to market a mid-level performance hybrid and now Infiniti has followed Lexus. Who's next?
