Default What is this Button -RX400H

There is a small button located next to the large sunroof on my 2008 RX400H. It has a picture of the car with what look like a signal escaping up through the sunroof.
This switch is not mentioned in the manual.
In Australia the RX400H only comes in one spec. - fully loaded, Leather,Memoryt Seats, Levinson Sound, Sunroof etc.

Any idea what the switch does ?

thanks

Digger.

A picture is worth a thousand words.

Have you tried using the button?

You might want to post questions on the RX400H in the Hybrid Technology Forum as well.

Sooooo many more buttons and switches on the hybrid.

Looks like a factory button. Any chance of a clearer picture?

Lets try this one- I am thinking Ultrasonic Alarm or something ?

Pressing it is like giving instructions to my wife - met with no discernible response.

My guess is either an open sunroof alarm or motion detector disable.

Start you vehicle, open your sunroof, make sure the button is in the ON position, turn off the vehicle and then try to lock it with the sunroof open. Does it beep at you as if there is an error? If so, try with the button in the OFF position.

Am thinking that is not a feature found in the US. Have never seen it in any of the hybrid RX loaners I have had.

Perhaps a call to your Lexus dealer down under.

I have a U.S. spec 2008 RX400h and it doesn't have that button, so I'm not sure what it does. It does look alarm related.

Indeed looks like it might be an alarm type of switch. I know on Mercedes, outside of the US, there is a feature with the alarm that will detect any motion inside the car. So if your windows are open, and the alarm is armed, if somebody's arm reaches inside, the alarm will go off. Maybe the RX is equipped with this in your market? Try it out and see.

Looks like the "I am leaving my dogs in the car and don't want the car alarm to go off every time they move" switch.
Commonly known as the "turn off the interior motion detector when the car alarm is armed" switch.

Yes it's for disabling the interior motion sensors.
Press it and then you have 5 secs to close the door and enable the alarm to disable the motions sensors.
