Default Scheduled Maintenance on RX450h

Hello,

I'm sorry if this is a repeated question. I leased 2012 RX450h last month. My dealer told me that I only need to do an oil change every 10,000 miles. However, manual and Nav shows scheduled maintenace is every 5000 miles. Should I take still take my car to dealer every 5000 miles? Or taking my RX to the dealer every 10,000 miles would really be OK?

Thank you

the 5,000 is for a tire rotation... but even that can wait for 10k ... tire rotation can be done anywhere, not worth the premium price that Lexus would charge.... the 10k oil change can be done at a reputable place too... dont sweat it if its a lease... go cheap, especially for a leased vehicle that youd return before warranty is up anyway

As long as you do the schedule services and keep the reciepts, it doesn't matter where you take the car. It is much cheaper if you use a Toyota dealer.

They changed the oil interval mileage I think in 2010 mid-stream because of synthetic oil use. I decided to still change the oil every 5,000 miles and only do the filter and oil every 10,000 miles and I also use synthetic oil. I do my own oil changes and it's very easy so don't mind doing a little more than what is required.

I went to our local Toyota dealer at about 6000 miles, having just returned from a roundtrip NY-FL. They were very good about it, and said to wait until 10K for the oil change. They charged me $18 for the tire rotation. The Toyota dealer is 3 miles from my home; the Lexus dealer is 50 miles. Toyota did ask that I bring my 450h to Lexus for any warranty work.

I am a new owner of a 450h and if I have read the manual correctly, the 5,000 mile oil change is driving under extream conditions, such as stop and go or trips under 5 miles. Otherwise the oil change is 10,000 miles. But for piece of mind, I think I will take the advice of another and just change the oil without the filter at 5,000 miles and let Lexus do the 10,000 miles service that is "FREE"

Your money, but with the 0w20 that they are putting in think you can make the 10k on both. If I had to change one or the other at 5k it would be the filter and not the oil.
