now that's strange...you should not be able to feel the "dot", as the gauge is clear plastic and you shouldn't be able to feel anything??? it's not like the gauge requires tactile touch....

if the dot bothers you, my suggestion would be to use black electrical tape and cover the blue dots so that you can't see them.

glad it's not april 1st; if it was, i would have thought you're trying to pull a fast one on us!

In your pictures you said that the sun was in front. Do the lights only appear when there is bright light outside of the car? If so have someone watch the lights while you use something to shade areas around the windshield. Maybe this is external light coming in from somewhere and making its way through a vent hole in the display and appearing as if it is a light. If that is the case maybe a cover/shield is missing allowing the light to enter.

I do not remember if the intensity of the display lights is adjustable in my 450h. They were in every other vehicle I have owned. I am just to lazy to go look now!! If they are adjustable, try varying the intensity to see if the lights vary with the rest of the display. That would tell you if the source is tied into the display lighting.

Yes, the lights are outside the clear plastic cover and under the cluster's 'hood'.

They come on not because of the strong sun but also at night. Like I mentioned before they would come on and go off uncontrollable and unpredictable.

These 3 photos below were taken without the engine on and a digital camera with flash was used. Just found out that the covers are actually blue hence the lights are blue. I'm certain that these blue lights are for show only, but why won't they just stay on both sides at all time? Please pardon the dust around the dash. Time to 'swiffer'!

That was enough to make me get the flashlight out and go to the garage and take a look at my 2010 450h. I do not have the lights but the other larger indentations that you show are flush on mine. I have no idea what they are for either.

Since your dealer is not close by, maybe you could just give them a call and talk with them about it.

Oh my gosh....

Those are the missing "Homelink button illumination lights". Oh man, Lexus is so close to getting that right!! Three more feet up and towards the middle and they'll have it!!

And of course, add a third.

the larger indents are just covers for the screws that keep the instrument cluster in place. Im almost positive I do not have those blue lights there

Just a guess, it could be a aftermarket alarm system that the dealer installed.

they dont look aftermarket at all, they are perfectly spaced on each side and looks very purposely done. I am extremely curious if the dealership can even answer what this is since we all seem to be more informed than most people

Time to start a pool. Guesses should be accompanied with $5 USD. CL-RX member with guess closest to description given by the owner wins. Owner not permitted to participate. Ties broken by time stamp on answer.

I will...ehh...hold the money...

Just curious, can you tell what features and/or options a car has by looking at vin no? I read somewhere that they mean something.
