Just bought couple of D2S 6000k to replace the headlight bulbs of my 2008 400h. I have small hands but there is no way to fit them through. How exactly would you change those bulbs? Please help.

I am current planning to do the same. Waiting for the car to come back from 80,000 service first. I will try my take at it and then hopefully post up results.

EDIT: I just found out that if you have a RX400h (and possibly the RX330/RX350 with HIDs), you might already have 85122+ bulbs so CHECK before buy bulbs. To check, you'll have to remove one of the bulbs and read the info on the base, it'll clearly say "85122+" if that's what you have. If your RX is already equipped with 85122+'s, there is NO BETTER BULB that'll give you more lumens. The higher Kelvin ricer bulbs will only make you LOOSE usable light output, no two ways about it.

I don't know if you know this but once you start going above 5000K (more blue), you're actually LOWERING your light output (lumens). You're wasting your money on 6000K bulbs. You'll get LESS light than your factory bulbs. Return them and get your money back if you can.

The BRIGHTEST HID D2S replacements you can buy are the Philips 85122+ (note the "+" designation....the 85122+ is PARTICULAR model, make sure you get that specific model number). HID bulbs change color over time and they generally go UP in Kelvin, therefore they loose lumens. The Philips 85122+ are specially manufactured to NOT change colors and therefore NOT loose lumens over time. If you're going to do a HID bulb upgrade, this is THE BEST WAY to go (as of 08/2011). I think the factory HID's put out around 3000 lumens, the 85122+ put out around 3400 lumens...that's a pretty good upgrade if you're looking for FUNCTIONALITY (i.e. more usable light output)

DO NOT waste your money on "no name" or "cheap" HID bulbs. THEY'RE NO NAME AND CHEAP FOR REASON! They don't last as long, they put out less light, their Kelvin rating isn't accurate, etc., etc. Also beware of FAKE name brand bulbs. You have to buy from a reputable vendor. Also, the 85122+'s can be had for a pretty good price. I would recommend buying from these guys, only $95 PER PAIR! That's only $47.50 per bulb!

I have no relation to this company other than being a satisfied customer. I did a LOT of reading and research on this but you're more than welcome do the research yourself.

Philips D2S bulbs are definitely going to among the best in quality. 4300k will give you the most light output so if you want to maintain that stock/oem look stick with 4300k. If you want more color then look into 6000k but keep in mind that the higher you go in color temperature you get more color but less usable light output.

Hey phantomdg, could you please post a picture of your RX with the fog lights on? I am trying to decide if I should change the silverstar ultras I am currently using to something a bit bluer to match the HID low beams better. Also, do your DRLs look blue since you are using the Cosmic Blue bulbs there? I know it is hard to find bulbs that look blueish when used as DRLs due to the lower wattage...thanks for any and all help!

Changing your low beam from 4300k to 6000k will decrease your visibility on the road. I did swap out the highbeam once to PIAA Xtreme white 4300K. Now I have complete retrofit done 75W ballasts 4300k D2S HID bulbs for AFS low beam and 65W ballastswith 4300K D2S HID bulbs for bixeon and fog

Philips.... We also have the Putco high power 194 LED bulbs. Keep in mind that these bulbs are rated at roughly 100 lumens. The Putco 194 LED bulbs are made right in the USA!
