Our New Lexus RX 400h
Hi All,
I am new around here, but I wanted to share my experience. The last few months I have been in the market for a CPO Lexus RX 400h for my wife and new baby boy. My wife and I wanted an SUV that got 25+mpg, 2nd row air bags, power lift gate and reliable...that leaves only one SUV...the 400h.
I picked up a mint condition 2006 Lexus RX 400h over the weekend. It was owned my some snowbird and I don't think any one sat in the back seats. I had to drive (2.5 hrs) across the state to Ft Myers to get it. The people at Scanlon Lexus in Ft Myers were great. They are not snobs like you find at the Lexus dealers on the SE coast of Florida. Most of the dealers in this area laughed when I told them I wanted to spend Mid-20's for a nice CPO 400h. Over at Scanlon Lexus they made it happened. They were asking $30k for 2006 400h and in one Email they told me what they really wanted for it (no dickering).
The color was perfect, bamboo green with gray ash interior and navigation. The dealer put new floor mats in the car and tinting the front windows at no charge. The car had 45k miles, but it has never seen snow/salted roads so the under carriage of the vehicle is spotless. When we arrived at the dealer I noticed the tires had some small dry rot cracks and they had very little tread left. The dealer put on all new Michelin Energy tires. I highly recommend Scanlon Lexus for CPO vehicle. On top of the CPO warranty (3/36) I bought an additional 5 yr / 100k warranty for $1600. Plus I got wheel/tire warranty for $500. I figure there is so many components with the 400h the additional warranty makes sense, especial since wife and baby will be in it most of the time.

Congrats. I just got a 2008 with 46000 miles and it also was CPO. Paid just over $30,000. My CPO warranty is 3 years/100,000 miles (3 yrs from the date of my purchase, up to 100,000 miles on the odometer). If you go on Lexus website, that is the standard CPO warranty. Please make sure you didn't pay extra for something you were gonna get anyway.
So far (less than 48 hours), I love this car! I will post mileage once I get a few tanks in there.
My grandfather bought his Lexus at Scanlon in FMB, and I went with him and was very impressed also.

The CPO warranty was 3/36, I purchased an additions 2 yrs for $1600. It basically extended the CPO to 5/100. It's a car for my wife, and being that is a hybrid with a lot of systems the extended warranty made sense for us.

I am just wondering why my CPO warranty is better than yours, and free. Please read this link and this is what you should have gotten:

If you find your mileage is less than expected (or the ICE seems to run more than necessary (like when at a stop)), you may need to do the ISC reset (Idle Speed Control). This needs to be done (the TSB says for 2006 models only, but the TSB was issued in 2006, so I don't know if it applies to later models) if the 12 volt battery was ever disconnected or run down to less than 7.2 volts.
The dealership can do it using the Toyota computer, but it can be a DIY quite easily, and no special Toyota computer needed.
Check at www.lexusownersclub.com for 'ISC reset' if you think it needs to be done, or ask the dealer (and take a copy of the TSB with you - you can find the TSB at lexusownersclub as well).

We paided $26,100 for the 2006 400h with a CPO of 36 month / 100k mile warranty. I paided $1600 to have the CPO extended to 60 month / 100k miles. I also bought the tire/wheel warranty for $500.
I think I might have to reset the ISC. Yesterday we drove 40 miles (50/50) and only got 21 mpg.

It will hold up just fine as long as you don't disconnect or run down the 12 volt battery.
Just remember, if you live in a cold climate, the introduction of 'winter' gas (with more ethanol to prevent gas line freezing) and the colder temperatures will lead to a substantial decrease in mileage.
Last winter I went from 8.1 l/100km to 10 l/100km once winter arrived. The ICE runs longer, more often and starts with the slightest tough on the gas pedal in the cold weather. Part of the reason is the need to keep the coolant hot for cabin climate control and also the need to keep the catalytic converters at optimum temperature for emissions control.
It's nice to see you guys did the ISC reset yourselves (I'm assuming) instead of filling the dealership's coffers.
