Its really a Radar to measure how far/fast the car in front of you is, and adjust engine speed to match it.
Maybe so, although I don't have adaptive cruise control. In the manual the section on the towing prep package tells you that you have a free-flowing front grille including the different badge.

I always through the adaptive cruise control used the same sensors as the park assist? If that's the case, those are those behind the little plastic covers (I don't have that on my RX either, but I do have it on my Sienna.)

Update: I just noticed the OP indicated that he has the Dynamic Laser Cruise control and yet he has the blue badge. Of course, he also has that HSD badge which I don't think is supposed to be on Lexus models.

no the adaptive cruise uses a radar behind the front emblem. You can tell because its a solid emblem. I dont know what grill they are talking about with the towing package. But the radar is like 5000 and could easily mess up in a minor fender bender. Thats the only drawback.
Well he is a toyota employee so im sure that plays a part in the badge.

I like the Red, it is really hot. But I love red sportscars, never thought I would like a red SUV.

Yes, my vehicle has the "Dynamic Laser Cruise Control" option and the blue emblem up front, but it is equipped as produced by the factory. The RX uses a sensor for the adaptive cruise control that is below the grill, on the passenger side in that slot below the license plate. As you can guess from the option name, it is a laser based system. I have it on my Sienna as well, and use it a lot.

Different Lexus models equipped with the "Pre-Collision" system (which includes an adaptive cruise control function) use the emblem-mounted sensor, and I believe that type is radar based.

I would concur with scottsh that the tow package probably affects the installation of the blue emblem. I did not order the tow package.

I finally saw an RX (can't remember if it was a hybrid) in Matador Red. For someone who doesn't fancy bright red on a vehicle, I must say, it looked pretty damn nice!

Very nice!! Looks even better than I thought!! The headlights look like they are tinted blue. Nice touch (not sure if that is stock or not though).

All new Toyota and Lexus hybrids have blue tinted headlight covers. Lexus goes further and tints the taillight covers blue too.
