Had a wierd call from my local dealer. While they were on the phone, I asked them when the LS600hL I had ordered was delivered. Insiders here know that I gave up waiting and bought mine from CA and had it shipped. I was told that the dealer has received no LS600hLs since they received a single silver one in September. The black Opal I ordered in May, and put a deposit on 15 months ago has never been delivered.
Anyone else think this is odd? Are other dealerships getting these cars and mine is low on the totum pole?
In a related question, has anyone else seen a Black Opal LS600hL besides mine? I've only seen that one silver one, and none on the road.
I visited Longo Lexus here in CA about a month ago and they had 4 of the LS600hls two of which were the black opal color. I don't know what their current inventory consists of however.
Last time I went to Longo they had 2, one was starfire pearl and the other one was obsidian... However I also don't know what they currently have in their inventory now...
Hmm, just a weird idea but maybe the dealership knew somehow that you got a Black Opal 600hL from somewhere else? Maybe someone is monitoring CL? Although I wonder if they connected the dots on who's who...

It's possible. But then why did they call me regarding an IS-F (which I had never shown any interest in - I'm the top of the waiting list for an LF-A which has turned out to be another joke)?
Also, that makes them sleazeballs for never returning my deposit on the LS600hL.
Somewhat reassuring, I guess, to hear there are other Black Opals out there. Having the only one due to some corporate change of direction might have been interesting.
I got my black opal 600 on Jan 19, 2008. I originally got on list in May 06 but they actually called for my color choice in May 07 so I think that's when they really ordered. It is the only black opal my dealer has gotten. They have delivered several in other colors.
They tell me black opal is a very, very low percentage of production but I'd love to know the actual figure.
The car business typically and traditionally runs on volumes. Sell a lot = Get a lot... IOW allocations are determined by the amount of cars sold. High volume California dealers pretty well get as many as they please. In a tight production market, this tends to leave "small" market dealers (read low volume) out in the cold. Then again, the small dealer wouldn't want too much inventory getting stale on his lot for too long. There is some relief however; if the little guy has a hard sale in the bag, he can call around and either do a trade or buy one for a nominal transfer fee from a dealer who has stock that is a bit stale, and try to recover it in the sale. It's a win-win proposition for both dealers in that case.

What ? They flat out refuse or did they keep telling you the check is in the mail ?

You should check your state laws. In Mass. you can sue for triple damages for something like that. And you'll get it too ............ unless the dealership declares bankruptcy.
