Default 2007 RX400h intro date?

Hi y'all,

Does anyone have an estimate when the 2007 Rx400h's will start to come in? We're on the waiting list and the dealer claims no idea when they'll appear.

Thanks,

Deane

Any indication of what changes, if any, will be included in the 07 over our 06 400h? Perhaps the new Gen nav screen among other things?

Will the 400 even continue? For one, the 350 now matches it for performance. Any chance of an upgrade to 450h with the new 3.5L instead of the 3.3? 3.5 would likely get better milage too. Or put the 3.0 from the GS in and keep it a 400. More power and better milage either way.

Any news about when the 400 will be changed?

of course it's going to continue! why wouldn't it? the 350 doesn't match the 400h in terms of perfomance. not sure where you're getting your information from.

it pretty much does. my guess also is that the 400h will naturally become the 450h since that is what the GS is getting. but who knows.

here are the specs on the 350 vs. 400h (on the AWD models only). you can see that they are practically equal now in terms of performance. and the 350 is 1mpg more fuel efficient than the previous 330, so a 450h should be more efficient than the 400h.

350: 270 hp, 251 torque, 7.4 sec 0-60
400h: 268 hp, 212 torque, 7.3 sec 0-60

I've heard that the new GS has a power seat extender like the one that has been in the LS since 2001. Has anybody heard anything about Lexus putting a seat extender into the 2007 RX400h?

no. RX400h has a lot of more torque from electric engines, so passing acceleration and feel of speed will be better than in 350. It will still get better mpg than 350, plus NVH is better so it is more luxurious. And RX350 is more expensive than before so difference in price is less.

It seems that 2007 Harrier Hybrid has been introduced in Japan in July, so expect 2007 RX400h soon enough. Changes should be similar to 2007 RX changes.

I would expect new engine to be introduced with all new RX in 2008.

again the rx 350 and the 400h is pretty much identical in terms of performance. don't know if u realized that u are still driving a SUV and not a sedan. if u want speed and acceleration than get into a GS or IS. 350 has enough acceleration and rx400h if any not much of a different.

you buy 400 becuase of the gas saving feature, people buy 350 because teh higher premuim may not justfy the additional cost.

Yeah i don't know for sure since i own a 330, i just pulled those off the lexus website, so the #'s to me show that they are pretty even. some people who have tested both say the feel is about the same. of course the 400h with CVT is going to feel different in its own way. my friend's 400h that i've driven is very zippy, but then again i got a new 350 loaner recently and it was pretty zippy too.

now, if and when they put the 3.5L engine into the RX hybrid and call it the RX450h, that will be one fast SUV

well, previously published 60-80 and 40-60 mph numbers are better for RX400h than for any V8 competitior...

If Toyota is really going to put the 3.5L hybrid system into the RX, they better make it with a real AWD system, with mechanical hardward linking the front and rear instead of using a motor in the rear; or putting equal-length shaft to the front axle. Hate the torque steer on the 400h.

In that case, they need a more powerful rear motor so that they can send more power to the rear wheels under hard acceleration.

would be cool to see a RX450h...but would it really save more gas?...i think the new 3.5 engines require premium...while the 3.3 engines can work with regular...well don't matter tho...if it does come out...i may be trading the old 400h for it...lol
