Water pump on RX450h
Hello all, I have a 2010 RX450h and I was wondering if the procedure for replacing the engine water pump is similar to the one for the RX350. I found multiple videos online for doing the water pump on the RX350 so I wanted to see if it was applicable to the 450h. Are there any other additional steps to take if I wanted to DIY this and I followed the RX350 steps?
Is your water pump making the dreaded marbles in a can noise or leaking? They really only need replacement when failing. Have you done similar repairs before? Do you have all the required tools? The motor mounts have to be loosened and the engine lifted up etc as described in the videos.

I think it should be about the same procedure. The 450h uses a slightly different version of the V6 as it is Atkinsion cycle, but the exterior and water pump should be the same as the 350. It is a lot of work to replace.
You should be able to tell by looking at some 350 videos on YouTube then comparing what you see to your 450h.

I have seen lot of people just get on with the work and they forget/ignore safety. So make sure you disconnect the 12v battery after about 2 min shutting down the vehicle [actually it is less but 2 min is good]. Take the keys out of the vehicle and put them far away as possible.
As Clutches pointed out, make sure you do need to replace the water pump. If you hear noise, make sure it is not a cracked belt [there is a belt in 450h and it can be neglected].
You may like to learn about "service mode" for 450. This will keep the engine forcibly running to help purge air out of the coolant.
If you do get to replace the pump, think about replacing the thermostat and might as well replace the coolant.
