Default Squealing / Squeaking Brakes

We have a 2014 es300h with 125k miles. All original brake pads and rotors. Been noticing that the brakes squeak a bit only when backing up out of a parking spot. Is it time to replace pads or would rotors also need replacing? Wasn’t sure if it was pads cause it doesn’t squeak when driving forward and coming to a stop.

Could be the brake shoes. Does the sound change if you engage the emergency brake a little?

I think the pads are gone. What you are hearing is the pad limiter touching the disk.

I'll get some new front and rear pads then. What about rotors? Do they need to be replaced at the same time?

Any suggestions on what to use?

Here’s an update: had a friend bring one of those brake pad thickness gauges and measured the passenger rear. The outer pad had plenty of life but it was harder to get to the rear pad and it looked like it was low. Went ahead and ordered brembo pads and rotors for $208 shipped from Rockauto and paid a shop $300 to replace it. Picked up the car and the shop showed me the old pads and rotors. Said there was so much life left and I could’ve gotten a rotor resurface. I’m a little irked they didn’t mention it but in their defense I didn’t say much besides I wanted them replaced so they did their job. I’m very annoyed though that I gave in to the wife’s complaints.
