Daily Operating Questions for RX 450h+
Of course. Not a lot of reviews on this yet but, those that are there appear to be more than favorable. I like the large display for those of us that are optically challenged. With the coupon, It was right at $400, before the governor's cut. I will also review it here, once I've had a chance to use it.
I'm interested in an RX 450h+ and have been long-time lurker in the forums, but there are a few questions I haven't found answers for. Can someone with experience driving the 450h+ help me out?
1. Is the engine unrefined and noisy as people say or does the cabin do a good job drowning it out? For reference, I test drove a 350h and disliked the feel of the drivetrain, but everyone has been telling me the 450h+ is way smoother. I haven't been able to test drive a 450h+ due to their short supply.
2. Can you adjust the strength regen braking?
3. For remote start (climate only), will the engine start up if the battery runs out of juice or will the vehicle not be able to preset the climate if the battery is out?
4. Does the 450h+ have acoustic glass? I don't see it on the spec sheet and someone told me the TX 550h+ doesn't have it.
On a more pedantic note, I hate how the dash screen looks so outdated. Do you think Lexus will update it to a larger digital screen like in the Rav4 Prime or will there be a future aftermarket retrofit that turns it into a fully digital screen?
Thanks so much for the help.

1) The engine has a muted growl to it that I’ve noticed in the short time I’ve owned it (630 miles). Around town, I’m using straight EV mode. On the Highway, I’ve been using the ICE. It’s all pretty quiet at 65-70. Probably quieter than the MDX hybrid that I had.
The only drivetrain experience that I need to get accustomed to is the whole CVT thing. After 5 years of the imperceptibly quick shifting DCT of the MDX, it’s going to take some getting used to.
