RX500h Humming noise in front axle, feeling at steering too
I haven't experienced any transmission issues with my RX500h so far. However, I've noticed a humming noise coming from the front axle over 70mph since it had 10 miles on it, and now it has 3,200 miles. I've reported this issue to Lexus three times, but their response has been that it could be due to active noise control, which hasn't resolved the problem.
Has anyone else experienced this? Additionally, does anyone know the return policy and trade-in options? Am I likely to incur significant financial loss?
Did anyone see the TSB for 24 Tacoma sounds exactly the same issue as RX500h. Toyota advising it was issue with the supplier.
Sounds very similar, hoping this same issue for 500h, really hoping as next time around really want 500h.
Aisin cast the torque converter bodies some of them were not properly cleaned, leaving casting debris inside. That was picked up by the transmission fluid in the torque converter and migrated into the transmission. In the transmission it kills the shift solenoids, which is why they stop shifting into all of the gears.
Concerning incident occurred today while stopped: all of a sudden car starts violently jerking back and forth. I was on the brakes the whole time and issue stopped as soon as P was selected. Thinking it’s some sort of transmission software issue as the engine was off during this event. Has anyone else ran into anything similar?
I have same problem today.When I changed to P.Issue was clean.2260miles now.
I was really hoping this issue has been resolved, I was planning on finally going to 500H after this lease in late 2025... Interesting to see if any cases on 2025's
This only seems to occur in Normal or Sport modes and when either starting off from stationary or coming to a stop.
Does anyone else have this? It almost feels as if the car is using the cameras/sensors to preemptively force brake, but almost like an ABS pump rapidly firing. The whole car judders.
yes I have the same thing happening. It has occur at least 6-7 times. Tonight it did it in Eco mode. The dealership is blowing me off and saying it’s normal for hybrids. This is not normal and very scary when it happens. I’m ready to hire an attorney about it.

Tell them to take you for a ride in a 350h and show you the same condition.

I just had this exact thing happen to my car when stopped at a light. Did it ever happen to you again?
Hi guys, I have 2023 RX500h with 22k km already (I know). The issue I'm about to describe has happened about 6-7 times now, last time was today. It's hard to describe so please bear with me.
While driving, as you roll to a stop say at a stop signs the car starts jerking back and forth. It's almost disturbing. The only way I can describe it is that it feels like it's "stuck" trying to switch between gas and electric motor. Car doesn't move forward and the only way to disengage this situation is to put the car in park.
The jerks back and forth are so severe and heavy that it almost feels like it's gonna break the gearbox...
After the first 3 times I took it to the dealer and of course they couldn't replicate the issue.
Has anyone experienced this? Or knows what I'm referring to?
Thanks 🙏
Yes, my Rx500h has maybe 5 times now, jerked violently when decellerating down a hill and coming to a stop. Its scary. Each time my fuel was low, so I wonder if that is relevant. Then it just recovers and all seems well again.

Did you find out what caused your 500h to jerk while braking? Mine just did it for the first time. I’m taking it to Lexus, and I’d love more information.

to be honest I don't have time for this nonsense. I'm trading in for a non-hybrid.

I had the jerking issue checked out by the dealer today. They advised me it is in fact, a transmission issue, and they will replace it as a warranty claim. Apparently, this is also a KNOWN transmission issue for the RX 500h. My "status report" states the following: "Vehicle falls into the VIN production date and transmission production date. Transmission will need to be ordered".
Obviously, Lexus has pinpointed a range of vehicles likely to be affected by this issue, and I have won the lottery for it.
For the record, there are other issues besides the jerking. There is "pulsing" feeling at parking lot speeds, and also occasionally, a revving issue when the car wont click over to the correct next gear.
Even more awesome, is the transmission is back ordered 3-4 months!
I put a deposit down on a 2025 TX350. Also not likely to arrive for 3-5 months.
Wonder which will come first!

My RX500h needs a new transmission - 3-4 months on back order! Pretty disappointed. I put a deposit in on a 2025 TX350 F sport instead. Not sure what will come in sooner - my new transmission or my new TX.
