For a dollar more get 'Mobil 1 Hybrid Full Synthetic Motor Oil 0W-20, 5 Quart' - protects for 15k miles guaranteed - at least that is what it says on the label Originally Posted by jahnjva

Product details: Mobil 1 Hybrid Advanced Full Synthetic motor oil is specially formulated for hybrid engines and their unique technical needs. Hybrid engines run differently than non-hybrid (internal combustion) engines—they generally run at lower operating temperatures as the power source rotates between the engine and battery. Protects for 15,000 miles or 1 year, whichever comes first.
Jokes aside - I would love to save some money but DIY oil changes are not for me.

Rolf, I get that, when I was working I didn't have the time or desire for DIY but now that I'm retired I have time. Where are you in NJ? I lived in NJ all my life most recently Oakland NJ (northern NJ Bergen County). We moved to VA 2 years ago to be with grand kids. I miss the snow sometimes (not shoveling) but don't miss the taxes.
This was extremely helpful @raytseng, thank you for the short explanation.
I did a quick search and indeed it appears like the 350h takes less oil than the 350. Both interestringly take less than 9qt that the germans use. So that definitely has me thinking I should change it more frequently than what the manual suggests.

We are in the Montclair Area. Yeah - taxes are a pain, but the upside of living in NJ is that you don't need to fill up your car yourself, never ever Originally Posted by jahnjva
