After what just happened removing the stereo I might be better off just putting it back in as was. I did have to remove the battery to put in a driver's side XENON before the stereo thing (ouch - hands shredded like a rose bush attack). CD played up after that.
The energy display doesn't work now. Climate controls are all off. And the steering wheel Display button doesn't flip through the dash options. No reverse camera either
Car drives OK and does display MPG in the binnacle area.
Must be some sort of broken connection via the stereo sockets. No codes or any other problems.
Anyhow, just a point of interest that I hope doesn't have deeper issues. Took radio out Huh??! No energy display No climate control. Generally acting weid
I'm guessing that you have re installed your stereo by now, but It's my understanding that there is some commong wiring between the HVAC control, nav display and stereo harness. If you simply remove it without wiring anything in its place, your HVAC and nav display won't work properly. Most retrofit kids sold for aftermarket stereos include an interface module to keep all these factory systems working without the factory stereo head unit installed.
