Does this car have the AGC (automatic glide control) in ECO mode like the ESh does? Looked in manual and forum with no answer. Thanks

 

Lexus has not put AGC on any of their other models. Only the ESh has it. I wonder if proactive drive assist makes it unnecessary on the RXh and NXh.

 

Exactly what does AGC do?

 

In ECO mode when release gas pedal car will coast with only road resistance...really works real well and adds to mpg. Did not realize ES300h was unique

 

I don’t get it. Don’t ALL cars coast with only road resistance when you release the gas pedal?

 

No...Engine and transmission still engaged...RPM gauge will show that as it doesn't drop back to idle

 

A tap on brake or gas pedal brings out of AGC mode. On 55 mph road I can coast 1/2 mile to stop sign

 

"A new system called Auto Glide Control (AGC) has also been added to the ES 300h to improve efficiency when the car is in the Eco drive mode. AGC is designed to address the situation where drivers misjudge the drag imposed by regenerative brakes as they approach a stop and then move back and forth between the brake and accelerator pedals to compensate. With Auto Glide Control engaged, the ES will enter a “coast” mode when the driver releases the accelerator to allow the ES to slow at a more predictable rate and reduce the inefficiencies associated with repeated accelerator and brake applications."
