Anyone replace the trunk springs?
So my trunk springs are getting weak and the trunk kind of heavy to open (my teen daughter drives it now). Not sure Lexus considered the weight of the spoiler, or maybe my dealer didn't upgrade the springs when they installed it? Anyone replace them and know how difficult it is? I did it on a Honda Civic and needed a special tool to torque the springs into place, but Toyota could do things much differently.
I just replaced my trunk struts last week. I had remove all of the trim from inside the trunk. Task was fairly easy but time consuming. After removal of trim, lift struts were fairly easy to change. I can instantly tell mine were worn beyond limits. With the new struts, my trunk snaps open. The P/N selection for the struts is kind of a mess. The dealer needed my VIN to get the correct struts since there are nearly a dozen different configurations for the HS250h. Finally, keep a broomstick in hand before you disconnect a strut. Once I disconnected the first strut, the trunk almost slammed shut on me. I used the broomstick to hold the trunk open while I swapped the struts.
