Default Replacement car keys

Hi all, just happen to lose one of my keys. How do I go about getting a replacement key and does anyone here know how much it costs through the dealer ? I have read conflicting stories online where some folks say that you can buy the key fob online and have lexus or some other locksmith program it for you. Some say that the online ones are a hit or a miss and may not be able to be programmed.

Could you please give me some recommendations and guesstimates on the price that I will have to pay to get a new key ?

Thank you

If lucky under $200. You are better off calling a few locksmiths as they are cheaper than the Lexus dealer. They will advise if they have the fob or if they want you to get one online.

Thank you so much for your reply. I will do as suggested. I thought as much, pretty much everyone should be cheaper than the dealer.

There are lexus dealers who sell new fobs online (look on ebay) for under 120 which can then be programmed at a local dealership for 70. The independed locksmith route for various reasons actually appear to be a lot more expensive. Also I believe only up to 4 total fobs can be programmed (2 of the programmable slots are already occupied by the original fobs.)
