The tires on my HS250h are getting close to replacement, in as such as their very close to wear bar indicator. I don't think prior owner checked inflation much. Anyways, I've been looking at Michelin Primacy 225/45/18 tires for replacing stock Toyo's. Wife logs 500+ miles per week going to and from work on interstate and some country roads. I'd like her safe when traveling during winter months and still get decent mileage out of tires. The Toyo's have only 28k and in rough shape. Any ideas here for replacement tire guys & gals????

 

i wouldnt go to the dealership unless you want to pay a grand to get them installed

Primacy MXM4's - no brainer. Low resistance, high wear, great in wet and snow. Price is not off the charts and Michelin usually runs a special. I know Toyota is running a deal too where if you buy 3, the 4th is one dollar. Price may be a bit high for each, but even out when the fourth basically for free.

 

The fourth tire is never free. No shops or dealerships eat the entire cost of a tire when they sell you three. The price of the fourth tire is always factored into the total price. Just a marketing ploy.

Of course! That's why I said it kind of "evens out". Dealer prices for just about everything are too $$$.

No more MXM4's? I just got mine a few months ago, oh well!!

Anyone know why they discontinued the Michelin Primacy? I saw great reviews on them. I was waiting to change my Toyo stock tires which I think are terrible tires. The dealer wants something like $265 per Toyo tire for replacement, which is outrageous. The Michelin's are still available at various locations on sale for $140 per tire, probably due to the discontinuation. You could look at Tire rack, or Discount Tires. I wonder what tire Michelin will replace it with? The Michelin Pilot is not rated as well as the Primacy, which makes me wonder if there is a flaw in the Primacy.

 

Yeah, it seems they stopped making it - not even mentioned when pulling up "recommended tires" for the HS on the Michelin website. Too bad, as it does seem to get much better reviews than the older Pilot it was supposed to replace. Wonder if it has anything to do with sunflower seed oil - according to this article, it's the first tire Michelin is trying it in to make them stick better in rain and snow:

Interesting article. Thanks. I looked at Tire Rack, Discount Tires and Costco. All still carry the Michelin Primacy and the price has gone up some. I've periodically checked the pricing on them and they have gone from $180 down to lowest of $140 prior to install. Costco and Discount Tire now show price of $148 and $158, respectively. I'm still running 6/32 on my tread so probably have couple years left on them. I currently have around 30K on the stock Toyo tires. Would either Costco or Discount Tires allow you to buy now and have them put on later? I know you can from Tire Rack, but worry about warranties and road harzards.

 

I know Costco allows that. I did it once. Maybe it's up to each individual store and tire dept. manager.
